What is in the leadership diploma?
Current Release 3 · 25 January 2022 · AQF level 5.
BSB50420 is the Diploma of Leadership and Management. It develops skills for leading people and managing business operations. The package has 12 units: six core and six electives.
Which core units will you study?
- BSBCMM511 — Communicate with influence
- BSBCRT511 — Develop critical thinking in others
- BSBLDR523 — Lead and manage effective workplace relationships
- BSBOPS502 — Manage business operational plans
- BSBPEF502 — Develop and use emotional intelligence
- BSBTWK502 — Manage team effectiveness
All six core units belong to the national package. A provider may use different module names; ask how those names map to the unit codes.
How do the electives work?
Choose at least four listed electives. The other two may be listed electives or suitable units at Certificate IV or above from a current endorsed training package qualification or accredited course.
Do you need an earlier qualification?
National entry requirements are nil. A provider can still set admission and readiness checks. Confirm experience, learning support and practical access before paying.
Does this award provide a licence?
The qualification specification says no licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply at publication. This does not remove workplace or industry obligations.
How can you check a provider’s unit list?
Ask for all 12 codes in writing. Mark the six core units above, then identify the six electives and how they meet the packaging rule. Module names alone do not show which national units you will complete. Confirm the final selection before enrolling.
